I am interested in coccidail parasites, long walks on the beach, Whitewater boating, hanging out with my coonhound and wife.

Research Project Involvement

  • PDGF role in venous ulcers– Determine the role PDGF has in venous ulcers MAPK pathway in venous ulcers – Determine which step of the MAPK pathway is interrupted in venous ulcers The role IRF-1 plays in MRL-Lpr knock out mice – Examine ds-DNA deposition and Immune alteration in IRF-1 knock out mice
  • Uses of histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors to prevent Lupus like symptoms - Uses of several HDAC compounds in a mouse models
  • Prevalence of Encephalitozoon cuniculi in dogs and horses – Screened horse and dog samples by Immuno-Fluorescent assay and Direct Aggultination
  • Develop and improve In vitro cultivation of Encephalitozoon cuniculi – Increase growth yields of Microsporidean parasites through in vitro and in vivo models
  • Uses of different histone deacetylases and Valproic acid to treat toxoplasmosis - Several HDAC inhibitors and Valproic acid were tested in vivo for activity against acute and chronic toxoplasmosis
  • The role congenital toxoplasmosis plays in neuro transmitter levels and behavioral alterations in mice – Currently in progress
